Sandy Tanaka is an art director, writer, and the owner of Tanaka Design and Marketing. Her design credits range from creating the iconic and ground-breaking Terminator 2 Special Edition DVD metal box to the implementation of the national home video marketing campaign for Blair Witch 1 and 2, to the design of the limited edition poster for My Morning Jacket's New Year's Eve Madison Square Garden Show.

She has a B.A. in film from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an MFA in creative writing from Warren Wilson College. Before becoming a designer/artist and writer, Sandy worked as a manager for many top alternative rock bands, including School of Fish on Capitol Records. She also worked in music supervision for many box office hit films, including Married to the Mob, Friday, and Colors, which garnered her a gold record.

Sandy, a nominee for the prestigious Pushcart Prize for her published story “The Countdown As Seen From 2000 Feet Above,” enjoys writing literary fiction and social commentary blogging.

She is also a strong advocate for Type 1 Diabetes awareness for her son, who has Type 1 Diabetes. She lives in Portland, Oregon with her family.
